ISPOR 13th Annual European Congress, to be held 6-9 November 2010 in Prague, Czech Republic, has accepted eleven (11) posters by STATinMED Research for presentation.


STATinMED Research submitted five abstracts to the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium, to be held December 8-12, 2010 in San Antonio, Texas.


STATinMED Research submitted one abstract to the 2010 ACR/ARHP Annual Scientific Meeting, to be held November 7-11, 2010 in Atlanta, Georgia.


Dr. Huseyin Yuce of STATinMED Research has been selected to be part of the Research Abstract Review Committee for the ISPOR 13th Annual European Congress, to be held 6-9 November 2010 in Prague, Czech Republic.


Dr. Onur Baser and STATinMED Research were cited by BusinessWeek in their April 4-10 issue.


The Severity Index for Rheumatoid Arthritis (SIFRA™) will be presented at the Annual European Congress of Rheumatology EULAR 2010, to be held in June in Rome, Italy. This index was created by the STATinMED Research team and has been used in many retrospective studies to control for severity. STATinMED Research will present "Deriving Severity Index for Rheumatoid Arthritis from Health Care Claims Data” on Friday, June 18, 2010 at the conference.


Dr. Onur Baser, President of STATinMED Research, co-authored an article which was recently accepted for publication in Advances in Therapy.


STATinMED Research will be presenting a poster at the 4th Asia-Pacific Conference of the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research, which will be held in Phuket, Thailand on September 5-7, 2010.


Two (2) STATinMED Research poster presentations were finalists at the 15th Annual International Meeting of the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (Atlanta, Georgia, May 15-19, 2010).


The American Journal of Health System Pharmacy accepted “Incidence and burden of ‘never events’ for Medicare patients undergoing total hip and total knee replacement surgeries” for publication. Drs. Onur Baser and Li Wang of STATinMED Research were co-authors of the paper.


"Preoperative Placement of Inferior Vena Cava Filters and Outcomes after Gastric Bypass Surgery" was accepted for publication in the Annals of Surgery. Dr. Baser is a co-author of this publication.


Dr. Onur Baser, President of STATinMED Research, was nominated for two awards: the 2010 ISPOR Research Excellence Award in Application of Pharmacoeconomics and Health Outcomes Research for his paper "Too much Ado about Instrumental Variable Approach: Is the Cure Worse than the Disease" (Value in Health, Nov/Dec 2009), and the 2010 ISPOR Excellence Award for Methodology Excellence for his paper "Outlier Payments for Cardiac Surgery and Hospital Quality" (Health Affairs, Jul/Aug 2009).


Dr. Onur Baser received an invitation from the Drugs & Aging Journal to review a manuscript submitted for publication.

STATinMED Research opened a new branch office in Manhattan, New York on the upper west side. This gives us the opportunity for more face-to-face meetings with our clients on the east coast.


STATinMED Research's work on "Quantification of Dyslipidemia Among Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Changes Associated with Initiation of Anti-TNF Therapy" was awarded at the ACR/ARHP Annual Scientific Meeting in Philadelphia, PA, held on October 17-21, 2009.


STATinMED Research's work on "Impact of Venous Thromboembolism on Patients Undergoing Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement Surgery" was awarded at the XXII Congress of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) in Boston, MA, held on July 11-16, 2009.


Dr. Cem Akin, Medical Director at STATinMED Research, accepted a joint appointment at Harvard Medical School. He will continue to serve as Medical Director with our company.


For the third time this year, Dr. Baser is invited as a reviewer for Value in Health.


Dr. Baser is invited as a reviewer for the American Journal of Cardiovascular Drugs. He previously was a reviewer for Health Economics, Journal of Health Economics, Value in Health, Journal of American Health Promotion, Health Services and Outcomes Research, and Managed Care Pharmacy.


Instrumental variable approach has gained popularity to correct for unobservable bias in retrospective studies, and STATinMED Research has applied this method on several of their projects. Their new paper "Too much ado about Instrumental Variable Approach: Is the Cure Worse than the Disease?" was recentely accepted in Value in Health. Dr. Onur Baser, president of STATinMED Research, is the sole author of this publication.


Dr. Cem Akin, Medical Director of STATinMED Research, was awarded the Sedat Simavi Foundation for Medical Science Award for outstanding medical contributions.


Dr. Cem Akin was selected to the editorial board of Blood, a weekly medical journal published by the American Society of Hematology.


"Metabolic Screening after the ADA’s Consensus Statement on Antipsychotic Drugs and Diabetes" was recently accepted for publication in Diabetes Care. Dr. Baser co-authored the publication. Refer to this MedPage Today article for more information.
